It has already been three years since our partner Fesser and Friends Inc provided any financial assistance to separated and unaccompanied children who were separated from their parents and family members during the periods of the various rehearsal massacres by the Ugandan rebels of the ADF- Nalu of which Beni continues to be a victim until now. It is therefore to alleviate the problem of the protection of these children in need of protection, that we have launched a project for the overall care of them through a Transitional Accommodation Center (CHT) with the aim of give them hope for a better life and future. This center managed in Congo by the Congolese NGO World Hope Givers « WHG » and funded by Fesser and Friends , takes care of emotional or psychological needs, in terms of education, food security, clothing, nutrition and medical care. This center has a modern chicken coop project which will contribute to the food security of children in the future and will constitute an income-generating activity (IGA).

Recently, with our partner Fesser and Friends Inc , we launched a recovery program for communities affected by the socio-economic crisis in Eastern DRC, specifically here in Beni. This program affected 3 primary schools in the Beni Health Zone, more particularly in the 3 Health Areas of Beni, and benefited from support in teacher kits, didactic kits and teacher capacity building through the capacity building workshop for teachers on the psychosocial support of children affected by the humanitarian crisis caused by war, Ebola and Covid 19, but with a particular focus on children survivors of the ADF- Nalu massacres . The primary schools that have benefited from it are therefore the BERCEAU School Complex in the MADRANDELLE health area, the EP KITOKO in the PAIDA health area and the EP EMAUS in the TUUNGANE health area.

As insecurity is still on the agenda in the eastern part of the DRC, the Fesser and Friends Center for Hope Transitional Accommodation Center in the acronym « CHT / FFCH » therefore continues to receive children in need of protection, according to that the case was transferred by DIVAS BENI after documentation of the latter; during this reporting period many children have passed through our doors.
